Bastille Day Cocktail Lesson: The French 75 and the Monkey Gland

  • Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar 105 Water Street Boston, MA, 02109 United States (map)

What says, "Liberté, égalité, fraternité," better than a round of drinks?

The Herzog Cocktail School and Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar invite you to join us for a lesson on two distinctive cocktails of France in honor of Bastille Day. We'll be mixing the French 75, an elegant Champagne drink inspired by World War I field gun; and the Monkey Gland, a gin cocktail named after an experimental surgical procedure. (Interwar Paris was an interesting place.)

Brian Hoefling will be behind the bar to demonstrate the drinks' preparation, talk about their history, and discuss France's role in the broader cocktail phenomenon. Appetizers and samples of each drink will be included with your admission, along with recipe cards to take home.
